Kidding that $8.50 is the price, or that its too high?
I could ship a set of DVDs for about $2 ground... it just doesn't cost that much (and yes, it does say it is shipping out ground).

This is because you are an unemployed person living in india, right?

8.50 $ is Shipping & HANDLING. The DVD has to be produced (with nice
printing etc. this is about 1 USD), has to be packed etc.

8.50 is not a bad deal.

But then, you are unemployed in india and should actually not have money for
an internet connection anyway.

It's shipping *and handling*. There is nothing immoral about them
collecting whatever they feel they need to cover their costs so long as it's
stated up front. Sure you can ship a DVD for $2. How much does the media,
duplication, packing, etc. cost? I guarantee you they're not making any
money on it.

What *is* pretty nutty is 30 days to get around to shipping it, but I guess
that is to not steal from the Instant Gratification that comes with an MSDN
subscription, which *is* sufficiently expensive that it's a dubious
investment for my purposes. I can afford to wait 30 days.

While a lot of us might question spending around $1K for an MSDN
subscription, I can't imagine anyone making a living at programming, even at
today's depressed rates, who can't afford $9. But if you can't, then
download the free Express betas. They're enough to familiarize yourself
with the changes to the framework library and languages.

Yes.... that's right... I live in India.... despite having lived in Houston, Texas my entire life, except while I've been in College
Station attending Texas A&M University... :/

If it was cost of the DVD - then the actual item we were adding to the shopping cart would not be free! HANDLING is the cost of
paying someone to stick the darn thing in a box and stick an address label on it.

Where in the heck did India come from anyhow???

The idea you are an unemloyed indian comes from your respect for USD 8.5.

But then I start forgetting that in "God's given country" there propably are
more people living like poos bastards than in the third world, after 4 years
of George W. Bush.
