VPTNFILE and LPT$VPN seem to be mystery files?!

Hi,

I have two files of unknown origin or function which I have not found much
helpful information - does anyone know what these are and what they do?

VPTNFILE.448
LPT$VPN.448
both same size 13MB and in same folder Windows

Both are associated with Trend Micro as signature (aka; pattern) files.
 
Ah, thank you - I have used Trend Micro's free on-line virus scanner in the
past.
