VPN general question

I want to setup a VPN for a school so a staffer can work from home. As i
browse the web on this I see all kinds of advice. So, should I be using a
hardware or software VPN? Can the VPN work using adsl? Does the office end
need to have a server?
 
it is works better with hardware VPN like Cisco PIX. If you have Windows server connecting to the Internet, you can setup windows VPN without additional hardware and software. Some DSL line may have MTU issue. check this page for more details,
