Hi, heard the answer to this question before but now I need it myself I
cannot remember what the answer is! How do I change the drive letters?
I've just re-installed XPHome and noticed the drive letters are not what
they should be, C: is now F: and the slave (was D:) is now C:. Looks very
odd, only cosmetic I know but...........any help appreiciated
thx
Dale

You can change letters by going to run, type:diskmgmt.msc L.click on a drive,
then go to actions, all, select, changr drive letter/paths.However F: which
should
be C: is changeable only thru reinstalling xp.You probably had both drives
connected when you installed xp,unplug all others but the one for xp during
installation.

Thx for that Andrew, re-installed xp again.

FWIW, not having your system on the C: drive is a GOOD thing.

Many malware products (really nasty ones) try to access the C:\ drive by
default, assuming that it the critical drive. They try to F*Up that drive
by deleting things etc., so if your optical drive is C then they can do no
harm. Just a thought...
