With WinMe, info on a folder is displayed every time a folder is opened.
With WinXP, no such info is avalable on opening a folder, unless you
right click in the upper left corner of the folder and properties.
Is there a way to configure the folder to display info on opening?

Open a folder and click Tools Tab, click Folder Options,
click the View tab and go all the way to the bottom to the
option "Show pop-up description for folder and desktop
items" and check the box, click OK. This will enable the
mouseover info box on active windows and your desktop
folders/files.

If in View menu of My Computer you have Status bar checked, you will
have the number of objects and the total size at the current level shown
in the bottom bar
