I have read past threads on this subject and tried all suggestions - none
work.
When I go into the control panel and use the "sounds", if I uncheck (then
apply) then recheck and apply the "place icon in notification area" box, it
stays until the next reboot, then it is gone again. There are no errors
from Windows indicating that something doesn't work. I can use sndrec32.exe
just fine, as long as I start it manually.
I have tried re-expanding sndvol32.exe
I have tried re-expanding powrprof.dll
I have tried reinstalling sound drivers (it is Sound MAX integrated audio on
a Dell GX-260)
I am at wits end. HELP!
Thanks,
