It's been awhile since I seen or used my volume control that was located on
my tool bar at the bottom right corner of my computer. I can control my
volume with my button on the side of my laptop but the volume control icon
that use to be in my tool bar I obviously can't use or see. When I go to
click on show volume control in tool bar it say's I have to download that
driver, it doesn't recognize it. Please somebody out there tell me this can
be an easy fix. It will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

In XP go to: Control Panel>>Sounds and Audio Devices Properties>>
[ ] Place volume icon in the taskbar

I did go to control panel and sound and audio devices properties and clicked
on put volume control icon in task bar and that's when it say's I have to
download the driver. Where do I find that driver and can I even do this
myself?

This would be your sound card drivers and yes, you can do this yourself.
Never get drivers from Windows Update. Get them from:

1. The device mftr.'s website; OR
2. The motherboard mftr.'s website if hardware is onboard; OR
3. The OEM's website for your specific machine if you have an OEM
computer (HP, Dell, Sony, etc.).

Read the installation instructions on the website where you get the
drivers.

To find out what hardware is in your computer:

1. Read any documentation you got when you bought the computer.
2. If the computer is OEM, go to the OEM's website for your specific
model machine and look at the specs (you'll be there to get the drivers
anyway)
3. Download, install and run a free system inventory program like Belarc
Advisor. The older Aida32 is good for this, too.
