I am running PCI Audio on my XP Home clone pc. I have
always had the 'Mixer' icon in my sytem tray instead of the
generic Windows 'Volume' icon. The icon had been appearing
normally on every boot until about two months ago. Now
it's appearance is an intermittent occurrence.I have tried
to fix it through 'Taskbar Properties', but the mixer
function only appears under "Past Items". It is current
listed on my 'Start'menu but the only way I can get it to
come back is by using 'System Restore'. Is there a fix for
this? Is there a way to clear the 'Past Items' log - some
of the stuff listed there has been gone over a year now.

Thanks in advance,
Terry Davidson

What exactly is the problem. Are you accessing these controls often that u need them to be on the task bar.

Kindly explain what the problem is and we will try to help u out.

The problem is that the mixer icon appears and disappears
without me making any changes to my system (it is either
on the taskbar upon start up or reboot or it isn't).

It has - until recently - always been there and I would
like it to remain there where I have become accustomed to
it and can access it without having to go through the start
menu or add another short cut to the desktop.

I suppose I could add it to quick launch but that doesn't
address the issue of why the icon keeps disappearing in the
first place.

It normally appears after the scanner finishes its boot
routine and the scanner finder appears in the system
tray(or is it all just the taskbar now?)...you can actually
see the system tray elongate to accomodate the mixer icon,
then snap back if it fails to load.

The problem occurs whether or not I use 'hide inactive icons'.

And, yeah, I use it enough for this to be a problem - the
way I see it, it's problem enough just because it's
behavior is erratic, otherwise I wouldn't be asking :-).

Thanks in advance,
Terry Davidson

M. Rajesh,

I worked it out on my own. Thanks for your earlier effort.
Best regards,
