If voice recognition is built into Windows XP; do you have to purchase
"Dragon" software in order to use a digital voice recorder? Some of the
voice recorders require "Dragon".

If not, what digital voice recorder will work with Window XP voice
recognition? Thanks

Voice recognition is available in the Tablet PC edition of XP but it is not
a part of standard XP. Basic text-to-speech (Narrator program) is included
though.

Office products will install some basic speech-to-text capabilities.

All versions of XP can use voice recognition software including the Dragon
product line.

So what you are saying is that you cannot use any digital voice recorder in
Windows XP voice recognition without installing a voice recognition software
except for the Tablet PC edition?

Yes. Voice recognition (speech to text) is only available via third party
programs in the standard desktop release of Windows XP.

What about Windows XP Professional?

now with no thired part proggys.... llok into it

You are using a third party program. Office installs speech to text. You can download the speech SDK from MS which also includes it (also on 98 CDRom). But XP itself does not include it.
