VLOOKUP errors on forth arguement?

I recently started a new career and I am required to take Excel 1, Excel 2,
and Excel 3 as in-house training courses. I spoke with my supervisor and
got the "OK" to have the instructor send me the tests without going to the
actual classes. I tested out of them all, but the instructor told me that I
did make one error.

In the forth argument on my VLOOKUP formulas, I used "0" or "1" instead of
"TRUE" or "FALSE". She said that using "0" or "1" can sometimes (though
rarely) create errors, whereas "TRUE" or "FALSE" will not.

Has anyone ever heard of this?

I have never heard of a difference but most leave blank for true and add
false for un-sorted.

I've never heard of it either.

Put them on the spot and ask for that example.

And if they give you one, post it. I usually use False/True, but sometimes....

And I may have to change my ways. (I don't think so, though!)

(On the other hand, this may not be the way to make friends at the new company.)

Thanks for responding Don. I had never heard of this before, but I thought
that if it was true I would find out here. Glad to know that the experts
have not heard of this either.

This is exactly what I though, so I did not question her too much. The last
thing I want to do is make an enemy of the IT department. The instructor is
outstanding and does seem too know her stuff - I just had never heard of any
sort of problem with using "1" or "0", so I had to ask the experts here. I
always thought of it as Excel reading the same thing, but with less
keystrokes.

Thanks for the response, it is appreciated.
