I am running XP and have tried many times, unsucessfully,
to install my digital camera. Each time the installation
reaches the point where the mass storage device is
transferring files, then the installation stops and an
error message appears that the installation cannot be
completed because the data is not valid. I have tried
another brand/model camera and get the same result, it
will not install. I know the USB device is recognized
because device manager shows it with an ! in a yellow
circle. Right clicking then reveals that the drivers are
not installed, but I can't install them because of the
original problem. I know the camera works because I have
connected to another PC running XP and it worked fine.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I am having almost the exact same problem trying to install my Olympus digital camera. It should install as a USB Mass Storage Device, and it is recognized as such, but attempts to install the hardware yield only an error message that there was an error in installation, etc. Device Manager cites it as a driver problem, but as far as I know, any drivers needed should have been included in my XP installation. I've combed through the search engines and I've yet to find a solution to this problem; any help would really be appreciated.
