visual c+++ runtime library

When I'm trying to surf the web, often when going to a
website, suddenly an error sound is heard and a box
appears that says: "Visual C+++ Runtime Error" This
application has requested Runtime to terminate in an
unusual way..." And then Internet explorer just closes.
It does this with so many websites. If anyone knows how
to get rid of these error messages, I would be much
obliged! Thanks!
 
Java issue?

"Program: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\explore.exe"
The application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
It appears that I have both Java(Sun) and MS VM on the PC. After
disabling/unchecking Java(Sun) the runtime error ceased in IE6.
