Visual C++ Runtime error

Can anyone offer any advice please?

When in an IE6 window, if I click on a link that opens a new window, I
get an error message headed: Microsoft Visual C++ Debug Library

The content then says:

Debug Error!

Program C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE

abnormal program termination

(Press retry to debug the application)

When hitting Abort, Retry or Ignore, the end result is always the same
- my open IE6 browser windows all close - very frustrating!

If anyone has any ideas, they would be gratefully recieved.

Runtime Library Microsoft Visual C++, Runtime Error Program
C:\Windows\Explorer.exe or Iexplore.exe, abnormal program termination.

also make sure you don't have both the Sun JRE and the Microsoft VM JIT
compiler enabled.
