Hello,

When in windows expolorer, I click on thumbnail view (to
change from detail view) of some embroidery stitch files
in .vip format, I am getting:

"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library"

with the following also

"c:\windows\explorer.exe, Application has requested to
terminate in an unusual way. Please contact application
support team for more information."

What causes this and what can I do about it? Thanks.

Not too geeky Joanne

What is .vip format? It must be a specialized file type.
The file type will be listed in the Windows Explorer,
Tools, Folder Options..., File types. Scroll down nearly
to the bottom until you see the entry for "VIP."

Generally, though, the problem is coming from
an "ActiveX" file that would be launched to support
viewing this file in Internet Explorer. Something is
happening to cause that part of the operation to fail.
This can be caused by not having that ActiveX plug-in
(for IE) downloaded, or by a security setting in IE that
prevents the plug-in from being downloaded or used. There
could also be a bug in the plug-in, but I'd suspect one
of the other causes.

I don't know what could have changed! Have not changed
ActiveX settings or anything. Could a regular update for
Norton AV or Firewall have changed settings somehow? I
usually have 2 WE windows open at a time and at least one
Husqvarna Viking program open manipulating designs. Been
doing this for a VERY (over a year) long time with no
problem.

It worries me that something may be amiss with WE.

Any other ideas? Thanks.
