It seems that most people having problems with Vista are users with little
OS experience. Considering I am a certified expert in the field and I have
absolutely 0 problems with this OS only confirms what I am thinking.

The important this is that all the drivers I need are included in the OS and
I am using top of the line hardware.

For those of you have unsolvable problems with Vista I would suggest waiting
a year and in the mean time go back to XP.

Have Fun

Your zero problem experience in Vista is just rare. Your Certification
has nothing to do with not experiencing problems in Vista, you just have
the right compatible hardware to run Vista. I've only had a few minor
problems with Vista that are driver related and those are slowly getting
corrected. The manufacturer's are released Vista drivers or updated
Vista drivers.

Software incompatibility should be expected when upgrading to a newer
Windows version, which this has been historically been the case
throughout each Windows release.

Are you claiming you are an expert because you are Certified?

I'm considered an expert too, however, its not because of my
certifications. The expert status is because of my knowledge, skills, etc.

Are you saying that users must be experts in order to install and use Vista?
If that's the case, Vista is doomed.

It has nothing to do with having the right hardware.

There are people in the Dell forums who have literally the same exact model
of PC as me with the SAME exact hardware that I have and they still can't
get Vista to work properly, even to install!!!

They keep claiming that the RAID controller isn't compatible but it
obviously is since I'm running my XPS410 with RAID0 and have been since RC2.

No special Dell DVD with drivers on it, just a plain Vista DVD and they
still say that I'm making it up lol.

Vista is an OS where being a knowledgeable user makes a huge difference.

No not at all. I am just saying that if you have little to no experience
with Microsoft OS's then you best hope for a clean, trouble free install.

Here is a scenario that comes to mind:

I have a cheap HPF335 All In One. The software provided is a WAY OVER
BLOATED HP print, photo and scanner suite of crap. But in XP it gives the
basic user a mindless point and click print, scan, fax and photo software
solution.

Now while HP has no VistaU drivers available, VistaU has drivers built in.
The best part is NO crappy HP garbage and my printer, scanner and fax work
like a charm. Experience tells me to leave well enough alone and be happy.
The common user on the other hand is lost without all the HP garbage and
will claim that VistaU sucks. Or even worse they will attempt an install of
the packaged CD and things will half work and they will complain that VistaU
sucks. Then they will try to uninstall the software to FIX a problem they
created and when things go south......you guessed it, Vista sucks!!!

Point being experience and knowledge is extremely helpful, being Microsoft
Certified just makes things kind of formal but in no way necessary.

Nope just saying that I do have the formal education as well as 16 years in
the field. It does make a difference.

It doesn't confirm sh*t
I have years in IT and building my own and others PC's. I've installed
Operating systems hundreds of times and I can't get Vista to work
properly.

Explorer is always not responding along with just about ever program I
have at one time or another.

My reliability rating is 1 99% or from some program or explorer not
responding. (on a good note it will respond sooner or later but I
don't like sitting for minutes waiting)

Tell me Mr. Certified expert how do I get explorer to stop "not
Responding'

And while your at it tell me why it takes System restore 5 to 10
minutes to open after I click on it?

Same here

Exactly what I am doing. I'm going to take advantage of MS's 45 return
policy on Monday

I likeed it when it worked but it don't work often enough..

But MicroSoft's goal in all of it's OS was to make it easy for
novices.
Guess they've failed with Vista?

Sure you do. You sir are the typical "common user". You would rather bitch
because of your obvious lack of experience and knowledge.

I do know why you are experiencing problems. But you wouldn't believe me if
I told you and you don't have the skills to figure it out.

I will point you in the right direction to get you started though. You know
that Vista has EXTENSIVE log files right? Your problem IS shown in those log
files. You will find that it is HARDWARE related. And yes I do know exactly
which piece of hardware is causing your problems. But with all your
experience you will figure it out....doubt it!

"Years in the IT field"............keep dreaming. A rating of 1 hahaha, Ya I
want you to build my next PC

Yeah... I'd have to pretty much agree with you on this one.

HOWEVER, IMHO, M$ has insisted on marketing VISTA to the *average* user, and
has consequently setup a their (M$, that is) OS to fail due to it's coding
flaws and acute incompatibilities.

Agreed

If any other software company produced software like Microsoft does,
they would be out of business.

Instead of being a smart ass why not post what hardware you have?

If you need help ask for it, don't be a jerk.

Also I'd like to see what kind of "IT" experience you have.
