Hi,

I received my Vista in a Launch Event from Microsoft. I have registered it
and it is working fine but I didn't see any windows update for dream scene
etc on my windows. I have Vista Ultimate. On some program errors, when it was
trying to look for solution from Microsoft, it showed a message that you will
need to upgrade. I didn't undersatnd, did Microsoft give Beta or RTM version
at launch? or is there any solution to fix this problem?

Thanks

You likely received a beta version of Vista. No final versions
of Vista were given out at the Vista launch events.

RTM version is 6000, Launch Event was pre-release 5840(pre RTM).
- are you receiving updates for Windows Defender definitions and the monthly Malicious Software removal tool.
Removing 5840 and installing RTM appears to be your only route, since current updates(even manual download patches)check for version number applicability.

Yeah, you are right, it is 5840. I gets the malicious software and windows
defender updates. Does it mean I have to buy a new copy or I can save my cost
with some upgrade option? any ideas?

Betas traditionally also expire, though I don't recall if the pre-release 5840 Launch Event provided version has an expiration like earlier RC1, RC2 etc.

New...Uninstall old 5840 Ultimate and reinstall a new full 6000 version retail.
