Since getting a computer with Vista loaded on it - deleting email has been a
horror! After years of using various email programs I have to say that
Microsoft has hit a new low with this email program.
When will there be a fix for the corruption - we are tired of having to use
the time consuming and rediculous fix that we got from Microsoft to keep
patching this piece of garbage.

There is already a temporary fix. Download and install it with Windows Mail
not running.

Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works in
other folders. If you don't know whether to use the 32-bit version or
the 64-bit version, try the 32-bit version first.

For certain common antivirus programs, such as most of those from
Norton or McAfee, or a recent one from Trend, you need to
uninstall (not just disable) the antivirus program to make the fix
permanent. For many others, it is enough to disable email
scanning and leave it disabled.

If you need a replacement antivirus program, I suggest either
avast! or AVG, either one with a custom install that tells it to leave
out the part that scans email:

If this isn't enough, you can download and install Windows Live
Mail, the email program Microsoft is planning to replace Windows
Mail with:
