Hi,
I am having trouble sending and receiving emails. getting messages that the
size exceeds maximum message size. These are not large photo or video files,
simply pdf etc. I have to go back to my old computer with outlook express in
order to execute, so it is not the server. Is it possible to change the
settings?
Appreciate any help.

No because there are no settings to change. Message size limits are set by
your ISP, there are no such limits in Vista, Windows Mail, Outlook, or any
other email client.

It would be helpful if you gave us an idea of the size of the message
you are trying to send. Windows Mail does not have a limit, but
your mail provider does. What is the exact error message?

Are you sure that message is coming from your computer, and not from the
email server it is connected to? It's usually the email server that has the
limits.

Agree...sounds like a server message. What size is this file?

That message is most definitely coming from the email (SMTP) server you're
attempting to send through. It is a "Server Response" message. Here's an
example, a 552 message sent from a server to a client indicating the
destination mailbox is full:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/254921/en-us
XFOR: Error Message: 552 Requested Mail Action Aborted: Exceeded Storage
Allocation

That error message is coming from the mail server. As I suspected,
you've exceeded the maximum message size as set by your mail provider.
There are free websites that will let you exchange large files with others.

Check your setting at Tools>accounts>select your account>properties>advanced
tab, on both your machines.

Are the settings the same for "break apart messages" on both?

hi, Just got off the phone with the server. First time they said it wasnt
them the size was fine,,2nd time I read these esponses and they increased the
size,,,all is well!
Thanks to all!!

So, your mail provider lied to you the first time!
Fine bunch, I would not trust them or do business with them.
