Me again. I did an e-mail test and I was able to open my pictures, but again
with my documents, none of them would open. I tried the older format and all
the other ones too. I have no idea what to do. Please help! And thanks to
Gary and Mac MVP:)

What happens when you try to open the attachment? Any error message?
The documents that fail to open, are they all .DOC types?

I tried every format (.DOC, .wps, .doc.wps) and I kept getting the same
message that the file couldn't be opened because I didn't have the file
couldn't be converted or the file was in use in another program or the file
was corrupted. The only time it would open was when I saved a document as
text.

Are you talking about attachments you have emailed to yourself
or ones emailed to you from other people?
I don't quite get your comment about trying every format. Are you
changing the format by merely renaming the file extension? That
won't work.
The extension of a document (.DOC, .WPS, .XLS, etc.) should be
created by the program that created the document. Also, in order
to open a document received as an attached from others you must
have the same program installed on your computer that was used
by the creator of that document. There are exceptions to that general
rule, but let's not go into that for now.

could not open the documents. Thanks for your information.

I've run out of ideas as to what to suggest. Perhaps someone
else has more insight in this issue.

If you save the attacments to the hard drive do they open when you double
click?
Are you using Microsoft Word or Word Perfect (or something else)?

Hi. I am having the EXACT same problem. I just got the new computer with
Vista on it and none of my attachments open whether received OR sent..... Did
you get this solved yet?

One of your settings must be wrong.
Go to Tools, Options, Security, and make sure that "Do not allow
attachments.." and "Block images..." are both unchecked.
Also, go to Tools, Options, Read, and make sure "Read all
messages in plain text" is unchecked.
