Vista reboots without notice

How do I make vista to notify me before it reboots fo an update? I have lost
a project while working on it and vista would reboot without notice

You should be able to fix this by going to the Windows Update and change the
settings there. I personally have them on download and let me choose when
to install. I then get a popup asking me to install and if a reboot is
necessary i will be prompted.
