Decided to setup a new computer for Vista but didn't want to break the bank.

Here is what I get for the Vista Ratings Using Vista RC2 64Bit

Processor 5.0
Memory 5.9
Graphics 4.6
Gaming 4.9
Disk 5.6

I think I got what I wanted.

So! Do we all go out and wave flags? Do we shout from the roof tops?
Are we the least bitn interested?
The Answer is No.

Robert Firth spewed out this bit, and i'll scatter a few bits myself:
You wouldn't believe me if I told you... because it isn't true
anyway. But I have a screenshot:

See? A purely arbitrary number. I'll tell you guys how I did it as
soon as I remember :(

I can help you sir, with your memory problem. You edited one of the files
located in...

C:\Windows\Performance\WinSAT\DataStore

They are .XML files. You open and edit the one with the most recent date.
Probably have to take ownership to save it. Open it with Notepad and look
for ....

<SystemScore>3.2</SystemScore>
<MemoryScore>3.7</MemoryScore>
<CpuScore>3.2</CpuScore>
<GraphicsScore>4.7</GraphicsScore>
<GamingScore>5</GamingScore>
<DiskScore>4.7</DiskScore>

You change the number to suit your fancy.

I think I got what I wanted.
CPU 4.2 (Intel P4 hyper-threading single-core 3.2GHz)
Memory 4.5 (1GB dual-channel)
Graphics 3.1 (Nvidia FX5700LE AGP card)
Gaming Graphics 3.0
Hard Disk 5.2

Running on cheap Asrock motherboard, but surprisingly good performance.

What if you bought Vista and other software in the US, then uploaded them to
a personal web page that others do not have access to, and then downloaded
and burned them to disks when you returned to merry old England? You would
still have the software keys which would be legitimate keys for you to use,
just not the original media on which the software was on.

On my 1 year old laptop :

Processor 4.9
Memory 4.8
Graphics 5.9
Gaming 5.7
Disk 5.9

I think thats kinda ok for a lappy, but.. it did break the bank, but that
was not my bank.

Calm down!
I just wanted to find out with other hardware was scoring.
I guess you just pissed that you have to wait for the release of vista or
something.
Take your meds and relax.

EX, contrary to popular belief, noting our equipment and WEI score isn't our
way of saying "My penis is bigger than yours!"

the reason all the emphasis on eachother's WEI score is to know what
equipment rates higher on the scale. So that when we upgrade, we know what to
buy.

Perfect example. My computers inboard Video card was a 6150LE Scored a 3.0
graphic / 3.0 Gaming.
I upgraded to a 7300GS and ended up with a 3.7 Graphic / 3.1 Gaming ($110
spent and very little change) It was a bad buy, had someone who already has a
7300GS let me know that, I would have bought a different card.
After reading the WEI scores on the blogs, I found that the 7600GS was a
better card and scored a 4.7 WEI. Did a little research, and got the 7600GS
for about $20 more than what I had spent on the 7300GS. Now I have spent $240
on upgrades, where if I had known in the beginning, I could have only spent
$130.
We aren't bragging, we are informing others about the best gear to buy with
Vista. So relax.

You do realize there is a problem with the nVidia drivers causing slow
performance and a lower score than it should?

If you use the boxed drivers for the 7300 or 7600, you'll get much
higher performance and ratings. Heck, even the lowly 6600GT with 128MB
I have in my older computer gets a 4.8 score for gaming with the Vista
driver.

Processor 5.3
Memory 5.9
Graphics 5.9
Gaming Graphics 5.9
Primary Hard Disk 5.3

I'm a little surprised at my Processor score. I have the Pentium Extreme
Edition 3.73 GHz processor. How might I increase the score? Would the only
way be to get a new processor?

Also, how can I increase the Primary Hard Disk score? As far as I know, its
a SATA 3.0 GB/s. Hitachi Deskstar T7K250 (160GB)
