Vista problem

I installed in beta version of Vista on my separate partition on my new
computer. Because it was not functioning well I decided not to use it any
longer. Unfortunately, good sense did not prevail and instead of
uninstalling it through the disc, I chose to reformat the partition, which
effectively removed Vista from my machine.
My problem it is that each time I reboot I'm given the opportunity of
booting into "windows" or "earlier version of Windows" (XP)

Although this is not a major problem, it is a nuisance that I would like to
get rid off if possible.

Does anyone have any suggestions apart from telling me that I was stupid,
which I very well know!

find a file called boot.ini that is your boot loader, before you start
hax0ring it i would recommend you have a look at some examples of how
to remove reference to an operating system from it first. if there is
only one entry in boot.ini then you dont get that choose os to load
screen.

Hello

You open Boot.ini in Notepad and delete the appropriate line from there that is in reference to Vista.

Use Start - Run - MSCONFIG and go to the BOOT.INI tab.
Click on the "Check all boot paths" button.

If a boot entry exists for a non-bootable partition it will be
removed.

Good luck

Vista related issues should be directed to the Vista newsgroup.

Vista overwrote the boot sector. You'll have to re-install the XP boot
files. If you have a XP CD you can boot to the recovery console then type
the following two commands

fixmbr
fixboot

Here's a description of the recovery console and how to use it.

You can also download a bootmanager program for Vista and fix it. Both of
the following programs will work from XP.

This seems like an XP issue since that is the OS she is continuing with.
Some people install Linux in a dual-boot arrangement with XP and don't
like it; and the considerations for removal are somewhat similar.

It can be in either place however the issue arises from the installation
of Vista and so is best posted to the Vista newsgroup. Vista issues
should stay there.
