Vista Home Premium laptop connecting to computer shares.

Hey why is that, that I can't do Start - Run - \\hostname in Vista? The
laptop can't find any computers if I type hostnames, only when I do IP
addresses like \\192.168.1.10 (pops up with login right away).
If you have solution to that problem please contact me or answer here.
