How can I get Vista to recognize my MSN email or Windows Live email, as my
default email?

Yes I have. I am finding out that MSN and Windows live email are web based
programs and are not listed on my computer. I don't think there is a
solution.

If you're talking about trying to get MSN's web-based mail site to open up
when you click on an address link on a web page, I don't think it will do
that. Don't think you can do that with any web-based email system.
Does MSN still have its own program, the way AOL does? You might be able to
associate that program with mail. Otherwise, I think the only choices you
have are to associate other programs that are made directly for email or
which have an email component to them, like Opera, Eudora, Firefox, etc.

Thanks, I found out the hard way that I can't accomplish what I wanted to do.
It's amazing to me that Windows Mail will not open an MSN mail account.

I may be wrong about this, since I no longer have an MSN account and never
had a hotmail account (tho my son has one).
About 18 months ago, MS made it impossible to access Hotmail via Outlook
Express in XP. I assume the trouble with MSN and Windows Mail is just an
extension of that.
Group: Correct me if I'm wrong.

I was able to access my Hotmail in Outlook Express and XP until I upgraded to
Vista at the end of January.

Hmmm.... As I said I don't have a Hotmail account, but I remember my son
not being able to access it via Outlook Express because of something
Microsoft had explicitly changed. I guess they were trying to draw people to
the Hotmail website because of the ads.
Maybe they backtracked on that and went back to the old policy?
You had a FREE account, right? If you were paying for your Hotmail, maybe
that's what was different.
