I performed a clean install of Vista and all was working fine until I
rebooted the system and found that I needed the CD to boot the system, I have
only 1 HDD in my system
Are there any suggestions

Can you tell us exactly what error messages you see when you try
to boot the normal way? There are several different places where
the boot process can go wrong. Do you have more than one Windows
installation on the one HD?

Hi,

Boot with the DVD like you were going to install Vista, but run the startup
repair function.

It could be that your hard drive is bad, even if it is brand new. Do you
know how to get into system setup (Bios). If you do, check to see if
your system is reading your hard drive. If it is set to none, set it to
auto. After you save and exit, do you still get the same error? If you
do, you probably have a bad hard drive.

Obviously his drive is detected or else he couldn't have installed it.

Just a hunch...
Go to MB bios and make sure the boot order has the hard drive as first.
Then make sure all CD drives are empty and floppy drive ,if present, and try
to boot to OS.
When I was running Vista. Even though my boot sequence was
1.HD
2.CD-Rom
3.Floppy
I would get a simular message if I booted machine with a floppy disk in the
drive.
