Visioneer 6400 Scanner XP Driver

I recently purchased a used 6400 scanner and am trying to us it in my Windows XP environment, but am having no luck. Visioneers website suggests trying to use their old drivers since they did not create drivers for XP, but I have had no luck. Perhaps you can tell me what I am doing wrong...

I installed the 6400.exe dowload I got from visioneer. I then tried to plug in the scanner, but it still gives me an error that it could not find the driver. I also tried to go into device manager and have it search or manually specified the location of where the visioneer folder was under Program Files, and had not luck.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Try this, uninstall the sw, unplug the scanner, reboot,
after xp comes up expand the drivers (run the 6400.exe
pgm) all I want this to do is to expand the files not
install the SW, plug the scanner in when it asks for the
drivers tell it to use the win2k driver do not let it
select the driver tell it where to find it.

You didn't say if this is usb or serial. I've had absolutley no luck
getting an older PaprPort Vx scanner working in xp. I run multi os and
just scan in win98se. I have common data partitions so can view ok in
xp, just can't scan. I tried a later version of software, it picks up
the vx in xp tries to work but doesn't.
