Virus in boot sector?

Hey all!

I'll make this short, but last week I booted up my desktop. It got to
the win XP splash screen then a blue screen comes up and reboots the
computer over and over ( don't even have time to read the first word of blue
screen before it disappears and reboots) . I enabled the anti-virus in the
bios and now every time I boot or go look into the fdisk I get the following
msg:
BOOT SECTOR WRITE!
Virus: Continue (y/n)?

Now how can I fix this? I got Norton emergency disk but found noting (
don't think the dat file are updated ) , I have MacAfee virusScan pro, but
can't figure out how to make emergency disk. And even if I did, would the
dat file be updated not like Norton? If anyone knows any solution please let
me know...thanks!

Just a note. If you have a boot sector virus on your PC chances are it's
also on EVERY floppy disk you've made since you've acquired the nasty.

The "Anti virus" in the bios of your computer is, along with the "anti
virus" in the bios of everyone else's computer, possibly the dumbest anti
virus software on the planet. Yes even worse than any products you are
thinking of right now that you once had a bad experience with. It knows
about viruses like I know about next week's winning lottery numbers (and if
I knew what those were, i'd be off buying a ticket instead of writing
this!).

All that the antivirus software in your bios does is simply monitors your
hard disk's boot sectors and blocks any attempts to overwrite or modify
them. It has no way of knowing whether the things it is blocking are caused
by a virus, you trying to run fdisk *ahem*, windows setup routine, alien
probes or whatever.

So, turn off this bios protection and use something like "LinuxDefender
Live!" to check if your system has a virus.
