Ireceived an email from a friend that instructed me to
delete a file in my computer jdbgm.....and trusting my
friend I did....now I find that this may have been a
hoax....and this file no longer exist on my
computer....what, if anything will happen now? Anyone.....

Your "friend" got you to delete a windows file. Fortunately it is not
needed. It is a Java file.
Next time run a AntiVirus program and watch the results. In fact, do that
now.

why do poeple blindly forward these things on, having no knowledge and haing
done no research! It doesn't take long to type "jdbmgr.exe" into Google now
does it?

Your friend should be told that it was a hoax they helped
spread. Also, Norton ( www.sarc.com ) and McAfee (
www.mcafee.com ) have virus information on the real viruses
and the hoaxes and jokes. A simple check on those sites or
Google will reveal the hoaxes.

BTW, does it make any sense that there would be a virus that
the real anti-virus companies can't detect but your "friend"
knows about.

May not have been intentional.
Might have been automatically forwarded from the friend's machine without
the friend's knowledge.

Also, some novices may have no idea about virus hoaxes. They're just trying
to do the right thing as they see it.

What is your op system? If you are using XP home or pro
you don't have to worry, anything under that you will
have to replace the file, go to Microsoft windows family
and look for a reference to the problem.

Fortunately, as hoaxes go, the effect of this one is very mild.
Yes, it was a Windows file and no, it shouldn't have been
deleted. But the file is the Java debug manager, needed only by
Java programmers. Since you're obviously not a Java programmer
(if you were, you would have known not to delete it), there's no
real harm been done. You don't need the file, and although it's
easy enough to get back, you don't need to bother.
