Yesterday I had a phone call from some one to say that my phone bill was
£800. My young son took the call (which was a computer generated voice) so
he panicked and hung up the phone. This led me to think that my sons had
d/led a virus that had been dialing up premium rate lines without us
knowing.
I did a virus scan and found swizzor.ah on the pc. I think I have cleaned it
all now, and after turning off the system restore, my avg can't find any
more traces of it.
I have searched google and other search engines to see exactly what this
virus does, but i can find hardly no info on it at all. Could this be what
triggered for the phone call which alerted me, but seeing that my phone
company had its customer service lines closed until Monday, I wonder if it
was a hoax call.
Sorry for posting this here but I just am panicking and don't know who to
ask and where to go for help.
Can any one offer any help?
Thanks in advance
Blondie

Could've been a dialler - unfortunately. You will need to speak to customer
service on Monday and ask them why it waited until your bill was that high
before triggering the automated response. Unless of course your bill is
normally that high.

Swizzor is a trojan, not a dialler, so I don't think that was the cause. I
would suspect rather that if this is legit, then you have a nasty bit of
adware on the system. Download and run the free adaware program from
www.lavasoft.de.

Many thanks for the reply, I have indeed done all checks now of any adaware,
and it seems to be clear. I just hope that was some sort of hoax!
Roll on Monday!
