McAfee has detected and stopped a file
labeled "gqpmflv.dll" located in the Win\system32
directory and has advised that I replace it. I am unable
to move or delete it, nor do I know where to obtain a
clean copy. And I have no idea of the purpose or
function. My system is Win XP for home.

What virus is the file infected with? McAfee usually has removal
instructions and info on how to restore the infected files.
