Virtual page size is stuck at zero

I just reloaded XP Home and all latest on-line updates.
Along with crappy performance, I get error messages
indicating I need to reset the page size for virtual
memory. When I go into the menus for this (system -
advanced - performance - advanced), sure enough it is set
to 0MB. When I choose a custom setting (as recommended)
of 382MB, it asks to reboot for changes to take effect.
So I reboot, but the changes don't occur and I'm back at
0MB page size.

Suggestions?

Hi,

Yes, disable the pagefile on all drives. Reboot, see if any copies of
pagefile.sys exist on any drives. If they do delete them, then reenable the
virtual memory and reboot once more.
