Not exactly sure what to change the size to, and suggestions? I ahve gone and
followed your instructions but I am now at a stand still. Thank you db.

If you don't know, let Windows manage it. It will do a better job.

Maybe you could tell us something about what you find here. Have
a look at this picture.

That picture is Windows Task Manager.

You get there by pressing control-alt-delete, or right-click the bar
at the bottom of the screen, and select "Task Manager" from the pop-up menu.

The Commit Charge "Total" is what you're using right now, in terms
of memory. The "Peak" is the most you've used since booting (i.e.
you might have been using a program which was a hog, but quit
that program, so are currently using less memory). The "Limit"
is how much virtual memory is available.

The "Physical Memory" gives you some idea how much memory is installed
in the machine. That is your RAM sticks.

Perhaps you could post the numbers from the Task Manager, so we
can understand what is going on.

A second thing you can do with the Task Manager, is flip to the
"Processes" tab, and see if any particular program is using
a lot of memory. It is OK for a program to do that, if the
program is asked to do something demanding.

Sometimes, if will become apparent right away, that something
is not right with one of the programs running. And that is
the problem - not something that should be "adjusted away",
by overriding settings.

It would be like if you started coughing up blood right now -
the solution would not be to prescribe you some cough medicine.
You'd want to understand why the blood is present. So first,
have a look in Task Manager, and see if something in there
isn't making a lot of sense.

These are my numbers right now. The "Kernel" memory is small,
so I didn't copy that part. I only copied three quarters
of the numbers on that screen.

Totals Physical Memory (K)
Handles 5617 Total 2096364 <--- I have 2GB of memory sticks
Threads 296 Available 1660316
Processes 26 System Cache 661164

Commit Charge (K)
Total 426268 <---- amount I'm using right now
Limit 4038724 <---- 2GB physical memory plus 2GB paging file
Peak 1141768 <---- biggest "Total" I had today (notice this is
less than my Physical Memory installed)
