I am running Windows XP home edition. I have 256 MB of
RAM and over 20 GB available of disk space. Even if I am
only running the OS I get an error message that virtual
memory is low. Any suggestion to my problem?

Thanks in advance,

256 is minimal for XP and both you and the computer would
be happier with (at least) another 256 of RAM.

How virtual memory works in XP

Consider turning off programs that you don't use but that
start when you boot the computer:

Do a regular clean-up:

(I know this wasn't your problem but I usually add this
link to my replies because so many people who appear in
this forum obviously haven't done these things).

Hope something here helps.
