Virtual Memory Low Problems

About a month ago I started getting Low Virtual Memory warnings on my
workstation.

I've been running XP ever since it came out on this machine without this
warning and I haven't added any programs or made any significant changes.

Strange thing is that it had started happening on my laptop also. Again it
has been running fine for over a year and also has had no significant
changes.

The warning often appears when the machines are not even being used! I have
plenty of disc space and no strange services running in the background.

The only thing I can suspect is a Windows Update.

Anyone have any ideas?

TIA

Hi §andro,

Haven't seen any Windows Update cause a problem like that. Have you tried
disabling the Virtual Memory, reboot, then deleting the pagefile.sys, and
restart it?

Go to System properties/advanced/performance settings/advanced tab/virtual
memory change and disable the swap file. Reboot. Delete all instances of
pagefile.sys from all drives should any exist, then reverse the original
steps and reenable the swap file. Reboot once more to finish. See if this
helps,

See www.aumha.org/win5/a/xpvm.htm and the Problems section. This sounds
like the Norton Live Update one, or a near relative. Also do a check
for adware, spyware - see suggestions at
