I'm getting a Limited Virtual Memory error msg on startup
and then the Paging Files too small error msg. I follow
the onscreen instructions to no avail. I follow the MSB
Article #257758 procedures to no avail and also followed
the DELL Doc #TT1058314 - adjust Windows Registry File
procedures and none of this has any effect. Can this
system be fixed or should I use this machine as an anchor
for my fishing boat? MAXIMUM FRUSTRATION!

Usually occurs when the "Everyone" group permissions are removed from the
%systemdrive% Make sure that the System account (NT Authority) has full
control of the %systemdrive% and or the drive you're trying to put the
pagefile on. My Computer|Drive|File|Properties|Security|Permissions

The system account (nt authority) is the operating system's account and
needs to have full control of the drive(s) the pagefile exists on. The
system account is included in the "Everyone" group.

Thanks for your reply. I did as you recommended, in fact
I went to each file on the C: drive and gave all entrants
Full Access. Rebooted the machine, no change - same
errors. Any ideas?

Each file? I don't think that it would be possible to visit the property
page for that many files in 40 minutes. Either case this article may help
assuming a permissions problem.

You're right, I hit the Program Files, not "every" file.
I tried #266118. I get to the Open Database prompt in
step 6, and there are no *.sdb files to open. I had to do
a reload of W2k last week to clear up this problem and
everything worked fine until I started up the machine this
morning, the day after the network guy connected the
machines. Are there some *sdb files on the disks that
came with the computer? Thanks again.

I think you're looking for
%windir%\security\Database\secedit.sdb
but I would still try the first suggestion.

Have you tried increasing your Pagefile?
