Virtual Device Driver - what is it?

An error message has appeared when I open my accounts programme. Something
about a virtual device driver and then this, c:\progra(squiggle
here)1\symantec\s32EVNT1.DLL

Whatever it is I can no longer produce reports from my software, margins are
all over the place and reports unreadable.

What has gone wrong. What is a Virtual device Driver? How do I correct this.
My accounts package is Sage and yes I have uninstalled and re installed but
makes no difference.

I forgot to mention what the error box say's. The header reads, 16 bit
windows subsystem. Message below reads, An installable virtual device driver
failed DLL initialisation.

This is gobbledygook to me so any help is appreciated.

This isn't related to your accounting program per se. What Symantec products
do you have installed?

I removed all Norton products a couple of months ago. And I have run my
accounts package since then without problem!
