Viny AC97 Audio failure? Now just a system beep.

That's it... it's stopped working. Now all I get is a stupid system
beep when I try to adjust the volume from the Master Volume control
center...

It used to go out once in a while. I'd ALT-TAB out of World of
Warcraft to adjust the volume a tad. When I came back into WoW, it
would work again for a while.

Doesn't really sound like hardware... but I updated the driver, ran a
virus scan, followed the troubleshooting guide and no luck.

Does anyone think it's hardware? Software?

If it's broke... what should I get to replace it? I've had
intermittent trouble with my video as well... says windows just
recovered from a critical error having to do with my video card or
driver.

Could it be bad drivers?

Hi,

I'd bet on it being hardware. Continually overheating, eventually failing
completely. Quickest test and solution would be to replace it.

Open up your computer case.

Check to make sure ALL your fans are running (CPU,
vid card, PSU).

CAREFULLY clean all the crud out of all the heatsinks
and/or clean the "filter" under the plastic front panel if
you have one.
