Viewing or opening temp files

Can anyone tell me how to go about opening or viewing the contents of tmp files

Specifically several large file with names like "~PDT1309.tmp".

Right click on the file and select 'Open with'. Choose a program to view the
file, such as Notepad. Be sure not to place a checkmark in 'Always use the
selected program...'.

Files with .tmp extensions are safe to delete if they are more than 48 hours
old.

Here's something you could try: Open the file using Microsoft Word. When you
do this, Word will prompt you to convert the file. Choose 'Recover text from
any file'. You'll get a mass of jibberish, which may include the data you're
looking for.

I use a program called QuickView (by Stellant) to read files that were
created in programs I don't have installed. But QuickView will also look
inside just about any file that can be opened under Windows. The results are
sometimes jibberish, but you can usually extract some useful data from it.
