I have a few jpg files on my desktop, and would like to see their contents
through the icon of the file, basically a small thumbnail.
I know this occurs for my photoshop files on my desktop - is there any way
to make it occur for jpg files too?

many thanks,
piotr

Photoshop must be doing its own thing in this. You can see jpeg files
as thumbnails if you set a folder's view to Thumbnail. But this can't
be done for the one that maps to the Desktop (other than looking at it
as a regular folder in My Computer. All you could do is have them
inside a folder you kept open on the Desktop, and set the View of *that*
to Thumbnail
