Hello All,
Could someone help, im running Windows Vista Business on a compaq laptop,
and everytime i get a file (copied on a flash drive from a colleague using
windows xp) i cannot read it. I have had this problem with other files as
well. What i was wondering is, is there software i can download that will
enable me to view ANY files using Vista. Please help, as this is driving me
mad. Thanks...

Try copying the files to a CD; it could be your flash drive.
Personally, I have no probs moving files from XP to Vista.

Exactly what type of files are you attempting to "view"?

Hi Lang,
Thanks for the reply, for some reason its most files that i either get sent
in an email or using my flash drive. The latest file was an xls file. Could
not open it.

Type the file extension in the search box. You will see what program you
need to view, or work with, that particular file.

you have to have a program on your computer that is capable of using the file type you are trying to open.
you mention
xls
as an example.
there are various VIEWERS available on the ms web site. if you do not have the complete program.

Have you right clicked on the file and on Properties seen if there is an option
to "Unblock" the file?

An xls file is an Excel spreadsheet. Do you have Excel (or some
compatible program) installed? If not, it's no surprise that you can't
open it.
