Viewing e-mail types when addressing mail.

How can I stop fax numbers being displayed in the select name field when
addressing a new E-mail message. Currently I have contacts displayed twice
with the SMTP address and Fax number showing under E-mail type. I just want
to see the SMTP address. Can it be done!!!
