Hi!
Im using Word 2003 for reading manuals and novels and am wondering if I can
view bookmarks when in read view mode. The "view" tab under tools, options is
greyed out so I can't turn on the option while in "read view" mode.

Any help?

Reading Layout is similar to Print Preview. It's intended to be used
to hide the display of nonprinting characters, field codes, bookmarks,
etc. Since that's the way it was designed you are unable to turn on
those items on.

Perhaps you could expand on why you want to see the bookmarks and we
can offer an alternative. For example if you want to use the bookmarks
for navigation you can still use the Go To command (F5) to take you to
a the specific page. Then if you want to see where the bookmark is
placed you can click the "Actual Page" command to find the exact
location.

Thank you Beth,

I had hoped that I would be able to create "visible" bookmarks so that I
could use the reading layout to read my tech manuals and suchlike. The
suggestions you've given me have helped to some degree and I will use them in
the future.
