Hi Peter

The manual that came with your motherboard should tell how to enter the BIOS. Failing that, have a look at the bottom of the screen when you boot your PC for something like 'Press X to enter set setup' - where X could be 'Del', F2, F10.

Its nothing to do with Windows, so you'll need to restart your computer and
try and catch your computer during computer startup before windows takes
over.

During the initial startup process for the computer, before the windows
startup screen appears, you might see a message like "Press F2 to enter
setup" or "Press [DEL] to enter setup" or similar... follow those
directions.

If you don't see such a message, try those keys (F2, and DEL) at startup
anyway as they are by far the most popular choices for this job but if they
don't work you'll need to consult your computer and/or motherboard manual.

How the bleedin' heck should we know?! Suggest you RTFM. This has nothing
whatsoever to do with *ANY* operating system.

Going into the bios "just to look around" is a bad idea if you have no idea
of what you are doing! It is very easy to change something and make your
computer un-bootable.

See http://michaelstevenstech.com/bios_manufacturer.htm
Mr. Stevens has listed most of the methods by make and
model.

Messing around with the BIOS isn't completely fatal if you do your homework
first. Most motheboards allow you to move a jumper(s) to reset the BIOS
should you do something foolish. I've used this "reset" method a few times
after messing with the BIOS, creating a problem where no display was
possible. Motherboards differ so refer to the Motherboard manual for
specific instructions on how to accomplish this.

However this "reset" does not guarantee that your OS will boot. If the OS
will boot using the BIOS defaults then you're likely home free. If not then
at least this method will get you to a point where you can make further
adjustments to your BIOS.

If you don't make mistakes you're not learning anything. Do plenty of
research on your BIOS and Motherboard, take notes, and document ALL of your
current BIOS settings before taking the plunge.

Good Luck

How to get into your BIOS depends, not on Windows, but on what
motherboard/BIOS you have. As a matter of fact, you have to
access the BIOS before Windows even starts to boot. One common
way is to press the Del key when you first power on, but that's
not necessarily right for your computer. Watch the screen
carefully when you first boot; there's often a message there
telling you what to do. If not, check your system documentation
or check with your vendor.

Also look here:

Or just try the Del key. There's a good chance that's correct for
you.

Greetings --

Only you know what motherboard and BIOS you have, so only you know
the answer to your question. ;-}

In the extremely unlikely event that your PC's manual doesn't
contain the needed information, try one or more of the following:

How do I access my computer's setup (BIOS)
http://www.iomega.com/support/documents/2157.html

Wim's BIOS Page

Accessing Motherboard BIOS

You should also be aware that it's very easy to render, at least
temporarily, your PC unbootable by making an incorrect change in the
BIOS. So be very careful.
