What's a good, temporary, and cheap (around $40) video card. I'm not a big
gamer but like lite games and photo editing. MB is an Abit NF7.

Yeah, the 7200is probably your best bet. The 9600 is, IMHO, overkill for
your needs... and it will cetainly cost you a lot more!
