Very strange situation

After trying the installation of the sw of a device (installation
aborted), now, every time my WinXP Pro starts, I don't find anything
on the desktop (icons, task bar, etc.) and so I'm not able to inteact
with my system. Using the task manager, I can use "sfc /scannow" and
at the end of sfc the system seems to be restored (icons and bars
reappear), but when I reboot my workstation, the "empty" desktop
reappears again.
What can I do?
Thanks.

Try to use MSCONFING and do a selective startup so you can find which task is locking your system

This is the product: http://www.digitalpersona.com/
it's a product (hw+sw) to manage biometric data (fingerprint authetication).
I didn't even have the possibility to connect the device, I've got only two
messages saying: "Installation cannot continue due to the following
problem(s):
Changes have been made to the systems that require a system reboot
Installation will be terminated. Correct the problem(s) and run installation
again".
I haven't either connected the physical device.
Thank you for your support.

Thank you, but because the tool to repair the bars had no effect, I
reinstall (from a backup I have) my OS. I'll notify the producer of this
event.
Regards.
