very slow -- system hangs always

I am using office 2007 beta with all updates. I am very unhappy with the
performance, Offcourse the features are good. My system gets hanged very
frequently when I open outlook or word.

I am using Windows XP Professional on laptop Compaq nc6120 with 512 MB RAM
and with almost 10GB free harddisk space.

I would like to hear from you regarding this or there is no option for me
other than uninstalling 2007 and install old version.

Office 2007 is currently beta software, so low performance, hangs and
crashes are to be expected.
Maybe though we can help you with some of these issues. Can you give us
more background on your hangs? What and when does it happen?
Do you have any add-ins (virus scanners, adobe pdf creator are notorious
problems) running? If yes, have you tried disabling them all already?
Have you installed WDS 3?
