very confused

Hi! I am so very confused. My startpage of IE6 keeps
changingback to a startpage I don't want. I open IE then
click Tools, Internet Options, change homepage I change it
to what I want and click Apply and OK. And the next time I
open IE my homepage goes right back to what it was.
I narrowed the problem down to some shortcuts listed in
Documents, Owner, Favorites. Then I delete them and they
come right back.
Why? What can I do?

you have a typical hijacker associated with adware/spyware/crapware/scumware...

there are numerous support forums on the internet that deals with security issues that you SHOULD look into before caving under, of which http://www.wilderssecurity.com/index.php and http://www.daniweb.com/techtalkforums/ are two of my fav sites among many others.

my quick suggestion is to run an anti-spyware programs, such as ad-aware, spybot search & destroy, or cwshredder. you should also update your anti-virus database and scan your harddisk

I again stress the fact that you must keep up with the developing security concerns, and one way to do this is to periodically check those websites

You have some malware on your system,run a few scanners.
There are some programs that will help you lock your start page.
Spyware Guard, Win Patrol,Spybot S+D 1.3 to name a few.
