Vertual Memory Low

I hope that some one can give me a hand w/this prolblem. I have a Gig of Ram (Qty 2 of 512 mb of pc-2700 ddr333) and in the last 2weeks my comp has really gotten slow. I mean it's just bearly crawling along. I keep getting an error message that says "Vertual Memory Low" My page file is already set at 1536 MB. what do I do to fix this and get my comp back up to speed?

Perform a scan looking for spyware using updated ad-aware and spybot:

Also try going to IE > Tools > Internet Options > Advanced Options and
disable third-party browser extensions.
