Hi all

I have acquired a machine running XP professional version 2002 SP2.

There appear to be some things that I am unable to run on my machine that do
run on my wife's machine, running "XP Media version".
I only noticed this when I copied a screensaver from her system32 directory
to mine and tried to load it, whereupon it came up with a highly specific
error message to the effect that it "requires media version of XP" to run.

Are the necessary add-ons or whatever available to download from the
MicroSoft site? I went for the "professional" version rather than the
"home" version specifically so that I would not run into problems of
applications failing by reason of going for a cut-down operating system. At
the time I did not even know that a "media version" even existed.

Thanks for any insight.

The Media version is XP Professional with additions. No, you can not add
these additions to XP Professional.

Thanks. Not even by paying? Well, presumably I could pay for a complete
Media version, but I am wondering whether you can pay for an upgrade without
having to do a complete re-install.

Is there a document that tells me what are the additions to Media version?

My understanding is Media Center edition is only available pre-installed on
brand Pc's(DELL, HP, etc.).
