Previous owned computer using Windows XP home
If a software publisher added a file , not in the applications folder it was
listed in the C drive after the listings of all applications.

New computer Windows XP Media
Vendor added files not part of the application or the Windows Operating
System it goes to the Windows folder where it is harder to locate

I don't really see a question in there and what you did write is hard to
understand. When you install software, in most cases you have a choice
where to install it. The default is %systemdrive%\Program Files\. The
program folder will go there, but there will be many other files
installed in the Windows folder as well as many entries in the
Registry. If you had program files on the C: drive, then you probably
installed incorrectly or were installing older programs. Only much
older programs designed for DOS/Win95 ran directly from the root of the
C: drive.

You shouldn't be playing around in your Windows folder anyway unless you
really know what you are doing. If you are trying to uninstall
something, use the program's uninstaller.

If you need more help, then please post back with a better explanation
of what you are trying to do.
